Pulleys

A belt pulley is a mechanical component used to transmit power between shafts using a belt. It functions by converting rotational motion into linear force, allowing for the efficient transfer of energy across various parts of a machine.

Belt pulleys come in several types to accommodate different needs. V-belt pulleys, for example, have a V-shaped groove that fits snugly with a V-belt, providing a secure grip and reducing slippage. Flat belt pulleys, on the other hand, are designed with a smooth surface for use with flat belts, making them ideal for high-speed applications. Timing pulleys feature teeth that mesh with the corresponding belt teeth to ensure precise, synchronised movement, which is crucial for applications requiring accurate timing.
